Daily Announcements – Wednesday, October 18, 2017 – Day 4

Cafeteria special:  chili with salad and a biscuit.

The first Caribou Contest of this school year will take place take place today during periods one, two and six in the library.  If you have any questions, see Mme. Whitnell in room 229.

Cross country practice at 3:15 today.  There will be an information meeting for all cross country runners competing at Provincials today at 10:30 break. Runners are asked to meet in the gym.

There will be an Art Club starting today from 3:20 – 4:20. A sign up sheet is posted outside the Art room for anyone wishing to join.

The “AA” girls soccer team are reminded to return your jersey to Mr. Duguay.

The boys “AA “soccer team defeat East Wilshire last evening by a score 6-0. The boys now advance to the semi finals next Tuesday. The boys played their best game of the season, Scoring for QC was DD Hassan and Noah Killorn each with two goals while Mohamed Itani and Shen Braha each scored once. Luke Clark earned the shutout. The boys practice next on Monday.

Daily Announcements – Tuesday, October 17, 2017 – Day 3

Cafeteria special:  chicken veggie stir fry with rice.  Tomorrow:  chili with salad and a biscuit.

The first Caribou Contest of this school year will take place tomorrow in the library.  You can choose to take part during period 1, period 2 or period 6  – be sure to check in with your teacher to ask for permission to be absent from your class and it is your responsibility to catch up on any work missed.  Return permission forms to Mme. Whitnell by the end of the day today.  If you have any questions, see Mme. Whitnell in room 229.

Cross country practice at 3:15 tomorrow.  If you have a QC singlet, and will not be at Provincials, please drop it to the coaches at one of the practices.

Congratulations to the boys “A” soccer team for defeating Montague yesterday with a score of 2-1. Majd Shahrour and Julian Gallant were the goal scorers for the game!

The “AA” girls soccer team tied 1-1 against Stonepark yesterday.  Sophie Freeman scored the goal.  Thanks to the girls for a great season.  Please return your jersey to Mr. Duguay.

Members of the field hockey team are asked to meet at Mr. Smith’s office at the 10:30 morning break for a brief meeting.

The boys “AA” soccer team play East Wiltshire today in a playoff eliminator game. Game time is 4:30 at Simmons. The boys are asked to meet in Mr. Cairns room 222 after school.

Daily Announcements – Monday, October 16, 2017 – Day 2

Cafeteria special:  Hamburger or chicken burger and your choice of side.

Students interested in singing in the Remembrance Day assembly with our pop band please meet at 12:35 in the band room today. The song for the assembly is “Bring the Boys Home”.

Cross country practice at 3:15 today and Wednesday this week.  If you have a QC singlet, and will not be at Provincials, please drop it to the coaches at one of the practices.

The boys “AA” soccer team defeated East Wiltshire Friday by a score of 3-0. Shen Braha led the way with two goals while DD Hassan added a single. Jonah MacDonald stepped up to play keeper on short notice and earned the shutout. The boys practice today after school.

The boys “A” soccer team will play Montague today at 4:30 at the Simmon’s field. Good luck boys!

Queen Charlotte had a group of grade seven boys who competed in the PEI Marathon on October 15.  Congratulations to Kelen Gillis, Zack O’Mears, Max MacIsaac, Nathan Farrell, Seth Fraser, Creegan Tompkins, Caiden Adams and Liam Chatfield.  They were the youngest team and finished in 16th place out of 47 corporate teams with a time of three hours and 44 minutes

Grade eight and nine drop-in volleyball today at 12:35 in the gym.

The “AA” girls soccer team lost a close game against SIS (2-1).  Keanna Ryan scored the goal.  Reminder of the game against Stonepark on Monday.

The boys soccer team play East Wiltshire today at the Eliot River Turf.  Game time is 4:10. The boys are asked to meet in Mr. Cairns Room #222 after school to wait for cabs.

The girls volleyball team are asked to meet outside the gym (with teacher permission) for a very short meeting.

The girls “AA” soccer team play today at 4:30.  The team is asked to go to Mr. Duguay’s room after school.

Members of the field hockey team will be leaving today at 2:15 with teacher permission in order to travel to their game in Summerside. Good luck girls!

Hockey Skills players are reminded that the program starts today at 2:50.  Players are asked to leave class at 2:30 with teacher permission.

The Coyote Homework Club is starting today from 3:00 – 4:15.  All students are welcome.

Congratulations to the boys “A” soccer team for their win against Grace Christian yesterday with a score of 5 – 3. Logan MacWilliams and David Carter both scored and Amir Abusneena scored three goals! The boys “A” team will practice today from 3:15 – 4:30.

The boy “AA” soccer team lost 4-2 to Stonepark yesterday. Scoring for QC were Shen Braha and Sam Akinsola. The boys practice next tomorrow after school at Simmons.

Yesterday the “AA” girls soccer team lost a close game (2-1) against Stonepark.  Jessica Gorvette scored the goal.  Practice today after school from 3:15 – 5:00

The Science Club will have the first meeting today at 12:20 in the conference room.  If you haven’t signed up, please sign up on the forms posted in the grade seven, eight and nine hallways.

Reminder to yearbook members that we are meeting in the Industrial Tech shop (room 205) at 12:35 today.

Students are reminded that there is no school tomorrow or on Monday.  When you return on Tuesday it will be Day 4.

The following students are asked to meet with Mrs. MacKay in room 218 in the grade nine hall a break this morning:  Zane LeClair, Morgan Livingston, Willy Thompson, Annie MacKinnon, Juan Cordona, Ricky MacKinnon, Jack Mackinnon, Tyler MacKinnon, Connor Gallant and Caleb Waugh.

The Brock University Caribou Math Contest is just around the corner.  Once again this year, as part of our “School Success Numeracy Goals” the contest is FREE for all students in grades 7, 8 and 9.  Please see Ms. Whitnell (in room 229) for a permission for and/or more information.  The first contest takes place on October 18 and 19.

Intramural grade 8 and 9 drop-in volleyball today at 12:35 in the gym.

The girls “AA” soccer team lost 4-0 against Birchwood yesterday.  No practice today.  Practice tomorrow from 3:15 to 5:00.

The boys “A” soccer team had a tough 4-2 loss yesterday against Ecole Belle Cloch.  Luc Doucette and Amir from (8D) each scored a goal.    Practice today from 3:15 – 4:30.

The boys “AA” soccer team defeated Birchwood yesterday by a score of 5-0. Scoring for QC were Shen Braha, Tony Nguyen, DD Hassan, Jacob Tweel and Mohamad Itani. Luke Clark recorded the shutout. The boys practice today after school at Simmons.

Queen Charlotte’s cross country team had an amazing showing yesterday at the zone meet, and now they prepare for the provincials at Mill River.

The girls field hockey team lost a tough game last night to Stonepark. The girls are getting set for EW tomorrow!

Anyone who applied for the Hockey Skills Academy is asked to go to the gym to see the posted list at break today. Everyone who is on the list is asked to attend a meeting today in the gym at 1220.

There will be no grade nine band rehearsal tomorrow morning.

Grade eight band will practice today and tomorrow for this week.

Duke of Edinburgh students, with teacher’s permission, are asked to please meet in room 216 at the beginning of first period this morning for a brief meeting.

Cross country athletes are reminded to meet in the cafeteria this morning after announcements. The bus will be leaving at 9:00 and returning after the races are over, which will be before lunch. Please check in with Mr. KJ White in the cafeteria before boarding the bus.

The boys “A” soccer team will be heading to Souris today to play Ecole La Belle Cloche. Best of luck boys!  If any members of the boys “A” soccer who team missed the meeting yesterday, it’s important that you see Ms. Muggah at some point today!

Daily Announcements – Monday, October 2, 2017 – Day 6

This past Saturday, five members of the Queen Charlotte cross-country team ran as Freshmen for Colonel Gray in the Festival of Champions cross-country meet in Belfast, Maine.  189 Freshmen girls from Maine, Connecticut, Rhode Island, New Hampshire and Nova Scotia competed on a tough five kilometer course.  Colonel Gray had a phenomenal result with Katie Richard, Grace Richard and Sophie Peterson all cracking the top 25, and Katie Douglas and Hannah Lawless putting strong performances to be near the front of the race as well.  These results are very impressive.

Grade eight and nine intramural drop-in volleyball today at 12:35 in the gym.

“AA” girls soccer team has a game today at 3:30 at the QC field.  The girls are asked to leave class at 2:45 with teacher permission.

Congratulations to 9C for being the class with the highest donations for the Terry Fox walk.  Enjoy your pizza party.  Homeroom donations and popsicle sales amount to approximately $1500.

Cross-country practice today at 3:15.  The cross-country zone meet is on tomorrow – please be sure to let Mr. Smith know if you plan to participate, or stop by to see the QC cross-country coaches at the start of practice.

Daily Announcements – Friday, September 29, 2017 – Day 5

Cafeteria special:   soft beef taco with rice.

Popsicle sales yesterday raised $70 for our Terry Fox fundraiser.  That’s a three-day total of $399.  Great effort and thanks for supporting this fundraiser.

Yesterday, we raised over $370 in homeroom donations.  8A was the day’s big winner but overall, 9C is still in the lead with 7I and 8A gaining ground quickly and in a virtual tie for second (ONLY 15 cents apart).  Who will come out on top as having raised the most?  We will have to wait until Monday to see which class wins the pizza party!

The Breakfast Program will begin next week – starting Monday.  Everyone welcome.

The boys volleyball team had a big three sets to one win versus SIS last night, good luck to the boys in the MEC tournament this weekend.

Our field hockey team posted their second straight win yesterday, defeating Montague Intermediate by a score of 2-1. Maggie Mullins and Katie Douglas were the goal scorers.

The girls “AA” soccer team lost 4 – 0 against East Wiltshire.  Reminder of the games after school on Monday.

Daily Announcements – Thursday, September 28, 2017 – Day 4

The Student Council presidential candidate’s videos should be shown today during the afternoon home room time. Ballots for voting will be prepared by Mme. Whitnell and distributed to all homeroom teachers/classes for voting after the videos are shown. Details re: ballots and voting process will be provided by Mme. Whitnell and her committee.

The boys “AA” soccer game scheduled for today has been rescheduled for Friday, October 13. The boys will practice again on Monday.

The girls “AA” soccer team play East Wiltshire after school today.  The girls are asked to leave class with teacher permission at 2:45 to meet the cabs at the front doors.

The Queen Charlotte field hockey team had an exciting 1-0 win over the host team Montague.  Macy Cudmore scored the game’s only goal after a good team effort to move the ball up the right side of the field.  Laura Scantlebury had a stellar game in goal getting her second shutout of the season and made two enormous saves off penalty strokes to help the team secure the win. The girls will catch cabs to go to Cornwall turf at 3:20!

Popsicle sales yesterday raised $133 for our Terry Fox fundraiser.  That’s a three-day total of $329.  Keep up the great fundraising effort by purchasing a popsicle for $1 today at noon hour.

 

Thanks to all those that donated money yesterday in your homerooms. 9C is currently in the lead as the class with the most money raised so far, although 7I is looking to pass them.  Please continue to donate in homerooms this morning and afternoon.  The winning class with have a pizza party to celebrate.

A reminder to everyone to wear black and gold tomorrow for the Terry Fox walk.  The walk will take place in the afternoon.

Daily Announcements – Tuesday, September 19, 2017 – Day 3

Cafeteria special: spicy chicken taco.  Tomorrow:  lasagna with Caesar salad and garlic toast.

There will be grade nine trip information meeting for all grade nine students this morning during second period in the cafeteria.  Students are asked to go to their second period class and then go the cafeteria with that teacher.

There will be a parent grade nine trip information this evening at 7:00.  Students are encouraged to remind your parents of the meeting.

Also this evening there will be a meeting at 6:30 for grade nine band students and parents regarding their band trip.

Students are reminded that student fees and athletic fees are now due to your homeroom teacher or coach by Friday.

Any students interested in Student Council president or co-president are asked to attend an information meeting tomorrow at 12:20 in room 229.

There will be a second tryout today for the boys “A” soccer team at 3:15 – 4:30 today.

The girls “AA” soccer practice after school today from 3:25 to 5:00.

Cross country practice Wednesday and Friday at 3:15.

The girls field hockey team play their first game today at Cornwall turf at 4:50.  The girls are to meet cabs by the triple doors at 3:20.  Girls are also asked to get uniforms from Mdm. Kayijuka today and are reminded that $25 athletic fees are due by tomorrow. Fees can be paid to Mdm. Kayijuka.

The tryouts for the golf team will take place this week. Anyone trying out must play at least two of the three nine-hole rounds. The rounds are Wednesday at 4:30 pm and Friday at 4:00 pm. Parents are responsible for taking you to Belvedere Golf Course and for picking you up afterwards.

Queen Charlotte is looking for two QC families who would be interested in hosting an exchange student from Ashibetsu during the week of Sept 21 – 28.  Two of the students have found a host from Queen Charlotte but we still need two more families. So if you are at all interested, please see Mr. MacNeill in the office.

We would like to congratulate Tanner MacLean, Matt Dunn, Noah Dow, Dylan Worth, and Cody Barrett for capturing the Bantam “AAA” Baseball Atlantic Championship held in Newfoundland this past weekend. Way to go guys and congratulations on capturing the Atlantic title!
