QC cross country had an amazing day at the provincial championships on Saturday.  Under cool conditions, the Queen Charlotte cross country team fielded athletes in three of the four races; unfortunately, we did not have an intermediate boys team.

The Intermediate girls came to dominate the race, and did not disappoint.  Grace Richard took first place in the race, with Sophie Peterson in second and Katie Richard in third!

Close behind these three, Hannah Lawless came in at sixth position, Lindsey Hood in seventh with Katie Douglas also making the podium in eighth position to take the 2017 Intermediate girls provincial champions!

The Bantam boys came with a full team, also looking to challenge for the team win.  Kal White ran a gutsy race to finish first, with several teammates giving top ten performances;  Zack Zakem finished sixth, Liam Chatfield in seventh, Jonah MacDonald in eights, and Finn Morris in tenth.  Alex Rogers and Aidan Carruthers had very strong performances as well, to round out the team performance.  2017 Bantam Boys Provincial Champions!

Not to be out done, the Bantam girls came with a team of three runners, and although unable to challenge for the championship title (require a minimum of five runners), they represented well!

Claire Bowie had a fantastic race, coming in second position with Grace McQuaid and Claudia McCardle battling in the lead pack to take seventh and ninth place respectively.  With all three athletes on the podium, it was a fantastic team performance!

All cross country athletes return their QC singlet to Mr. Smith as soon as possible.
