Congratulations to Quaid Costello whose dragster defeated Mr. Taggart’s.  Way to go Quaid.  Mr. Taggart was undefeated for three years.

There are a few yearbooks available for sale to grade seven, eight and nine students at 12:30 today.  The books are $30 each.

Cafeteria special today:  lasagna with Caesar salad and garlic toast.  Tomorrow’s special:  chicken fingers with rice and veggies.

The girls softball team capped off a great season yesterday in Kensington by winning the Provincial championship. The team won their semi-final by defeating ME Callaghan #2 6-2. In the championship game, Queen Charlotte defeated Stonepark 9-2 in six innings. Emily Reynolds was the winning pitcher in both games striking out 23 batters in total. Top batters for the day were Madison Gallant, Darcie Kelly and Anna Weatherbie. Great work girls!!

Grade nine Improv group meets Wednesday and Thursday morning at 7:30.

Cafeteria special today:  spicy chicken taco and Mexican rice.  Tomorrow’s special:  lasagna with Caesar salad and garlic toast.

The girls flag football lost in the semi-final against Montague.  Two touchdowns by Helena Vos and one by Emma Mayne.  We won against Stonepark to finish third in the east.  Thanks for a good season.

The girls softball team advanced to the Provincial Championships today in Kensington with a 11-1 win against East Wiltshire yesterday. Winning pitcher was Emily Reynolds while Maria Brown, Darcy Kelly and Sophia Jeffrey were the top batters. The girls play against ME Callaghan today in Kensington at 1:30 and then play a medal game at 3:30. The girls are asked to be dismissed from class after period three this morning. Good luck Coyotes!

The girls softball team defeated East Wiltshire 11-1 last evening. Winning pitcher was Emily Reynolds. Top batters were Darcy Kelly, Sophia Jeffrey and Madison Gallant. The girls play against Stonepark today at 4:00 at QE field. Girls are asked to be at the field by 3:30.

The “A” girls flag football lost a very close game against Montague yesterday.  Two touch downs by Grace McQuaid and one interception by Marlee MacKinnon.  Thanks to the girls for a great season.  Please return your jerseys to Mr. Duguay.

“AA” flag football practice tomorrow after school from 3:15 to 4:45.

Flag Football A – game tonight at Cornwall.  Can the girls leave school at 2:35 with teacher permission.   Please meet at the triple doors.

Queen Charlotte Athletes had a great weekend at the Provincial Track and Field Championship held at UPEI this past weekend. Both the Bantam and Intermediate girls teams captured provincial titles while the Bantam and Intermediate boys both placed second. Many individual athletes also won provincial titles as well. They will be announced tomorrow. Great work Coyotes!

The girls softball team plays against East Wiltshire today at 4:00 at QE field. All girls are asked to be at the filed by 3:30.

The boys baseball team beat the previously undefeated SIS team by a score of 12-3. Matt Power was the winning pitcher with 13 strikeouts. Top batters were Tobias Hood, Dylan Worth and Owen Morrison. Good luck to the team in the playoffs!

Tickets for the “Pie a Staff Member” activity will be on sale again today at lunch.  Tickets are $1 each for your opportunity to pie a staff member.

Today is the last day for our Breakfast Program.  Thanks to our volunteers and to our coordinators Stacy Kerr and Ian Robertson.

There will be a meeting for the boys baseball team at break time in the gym.

Student Council will be selling ticket for “Pie a Staff Member”.  Tickets will be on sale at lunch outside the cafeteria today and tomorrow.  Tickets are $1 each.

The new grade eight Duke of Edinburgh students are asked to meet in the cafeteria at 1:05 for a meeting.

Members of the boys baseball team please come to the main lobby by the office after announcements for a very brief meeting about your game tomorrow.

The girls softball team defeated East Wiltshire 18-2 last night. Winning pitcher was Darcie Kelly.  Top Batters were Jessica Murphy, Ella Hennessey and Sophia Jeffrey.  Next game is Monday vs East Wiltshire.

The “AA” boys flag football team will play today at 4:30 vs Montague. Players are reminded they are to find their own rides to and from the field.

There will be an important meeting for all track and field students who qualified for provincials this weekend. The meeting will be in the gym at 12:20.

The girls softball team plays at East Wiltshire today at 4:00. Girls are asked to meet at cafeteria doors at 2:50 to catch cabs to the game.

The boys baseball team plays today at 6:30 in Cardigan. Players are asked to be at the field and ready, no later than 6:00.

The “A” flag football team won against Vernon River and lost against Montague.  Touchdown by Ria x 4 and Grace x 1.

There will be high jump and track practice at UPEI tomorrow at 4:00.

Jazz band this week is rescheduled to Thursday 7:30 AM.

Grade nine band reminded that rehearsal is starting ten minutes early tomorrow morning.

Daily Announcements – Tuesday, May 23, 2017 – Day 3

The boys baseball team had a very successful first weekend.  In their first ever game, Harrison Trenholm pitched the win against Stonepark, with strong relief from Jacob MacPhee. Top batter was Sully Birch who had a great game and was 5-5, with 5 RBI’s!

In game two, Matt Dunn got the win against KISH with relief from Tobias Hood.  Dylan Worth provided the heroics with an extra inning walk off grand slam.

In the third game, East Wiltshire squeaked out a narrow 3-2 victory, despite the strong pitching of Matt Power.

The boys are reminded that they will practice today after school at QE Field.

There will be throwing practice tomorrow (Wednesday) at lunch for anyone who qualified for provincials in shotput, discus or javelin.

Congratulations to our track and field athletes on their outstanding performances yesterday at the UPEI zone meet.  QC was incredibly well represented.  Ribbons will be given out next week as final results weren’t in for all events yesterday. Results will be announced as they become available.

Girls Softball will practice on Tuesday from 3-4:30 and play next Thursday against Stonpark.

Flag football team are asked to meet your cabs at 2:50 at the triple doors.  The girls should leave class, with teacher permission, at 2:40.

Students interested in learning how to create video games in an after school program called “Game Force” can pick up release forms in the main office.   Please return completed forms to Mr. MacNeill in room 216.   “Game Force” will take place from 3:00 to 5:00 PM from Tuesday to Friday next week.  There is only room for the first 20 students who turn in a signed permission form.  We would ask that you only sign up if you can attend all four days. If you have any questions, please see Mr. MacNeill.

Congratulations to our group of 47 grade nine students who received their Bronze Award for the Duke of Edinburgh program.  Queen Charlotte was well represented last night at the awards ceremony.  Well done!

There are some tickets available for tonight’s PEI Storm playoff basketball game against the Halifax Hurricanes.  Interested students should see Mr. McIsaac in the cafeteria at lunch time.

There will be a meeting at break (10:30) for all students participating in the triathlon. Please meet Mr. Smith for a quick information meeting.

There will be an important meeting today at 12:20 in the gym for all track and field students attending the zone meet tomorrow.

There will be a throwing practice at lunch today for all track and field athlete’s throwing javelin, discus and shot put.  It is important to get out for a few throws before the event tomorrow.

Flag football “A” team won 13-8 against Gulf Shore.  Two touch downs by Ria Johnston and one point conversion by Bonnie Thompson.  Practice Wednesday for both teams from 3:10 – 4:30.  Game day on Friday for the “AA” team.
